History Vs. History

The NHL asked us to deliver a complex, media-intensive experience and make it look effortless. Troupe teamed up with the NHL to design and develop an online competition challenging hockey fans to pick their favorite moments of NHL Playoff history. The 64 most outstanding Playoff moments were presented in a bracket, allowing fans to either watch the moment or delve deeper for supporting content. Through rich media such as game footage, photo galleries, expert commentary and extensive write-ups, fans were encouraged to relive each historical hockey moment and vote for their favorite one.

The Results

Within the first two weeks the site received roughly 400,000 visits. Fans eagerly consumed content and developed an affinity with the program as it continued to grow. Each week new and returning fans visited the website to vote and compare their selections with other fans. 'History Versus History' won two Silver W3 awards, and was chosen as 'webPick of the Day' for Communication Arts Magazine.
